In Excel Level 1: Fundamentals, you’ll learn how to confidently navigate the Excel environment, create and organize worksheets, enter and format data, and build formulas using essential functions.
In Excel Level 2: Working with Data, you’ll expand your skills by working with structured data, applying advanced formulas including logical and summarizing functions, and using powerful tools like VLOOKUP, XLOOKUP, PivotTables, and PivotCharts to analyze and interpret data.
Through hands-on instruction and guided practice using downloadable exercise files, you’ll build practical, job-ready skills throughout the day. You’ll also receive comprehensive reference guides with step-by-step instructions, keyboard shortcuts, and helpful tips to reinforce everything you learn.
By the end of this full-day Excel training experience, you’ll be able to organize, manage, and analyze data more efficiently and effectively—empowering you to support informed business decisions with confidence.
Course Objectives
Upon completion, students will be able to:
Excel Level 1: Fundamentals
- Navigate the Microsoft Excel environment and identify key interface components
- Create, navigate, and manage worksheets within a workbook
- Enter, edit, and modify data in Excel worksheets
- Create formulas and apply basic functions to perform calculations
- Format cells to enhance worksheet appearance and readability
- Apply number formats to display data accurately and appropriately
- Prepare and print worksheets for professional use and distribution
Excel Level 2: Working with Data
- Filter and sort data to organize and analyze information effectively
- Create and manage Excel tables to structure and summarize data
- Nest functions to perform more complex calculations and analyses
- Apply logical, counting, summing, and averaging functions, including IF, COUNTIF, SUMIF, and AVERAGEIF
- Use VLOOKUP and XLOOKUP functions to retrieve and analyze data from tables and datasets
- Create and customize PivotTables and PivotCharts to summarize, analyze, and visualize data trends and patterns
Course Format
This class is completely virtual. You will join the Zoom classroom using your own computer from wherever you choose (home, work, or other location). Please DO NOT travel to campus for this class.
Equipment Requirements
- Computer with Microsoft Excel 2016 or newer, webcam, microphone, and high-speed internet
- 2 monitors (or 1 large high-resolution screen capable of having multiple windows open at a time)
- Plan to have your video camera on during the training, so the instructor can monitor your experience
Required Materials
Zoom links and Excel working files will be emailed several days prior to the class date. Download the Excel files to your computer and/or print them out before the class.
