The center gives both computer-based tests as well as paper-based tests. In most cases, the registration process is coordinated through the specific testing company’s website. For detailed information about registration procedures, in the left panel, click on the exam you are interested in taking.
The Testing Center does have limited seating; therefore, reservations for testing are made on a first-come, first served basis. For most exams, payment for testing occurs at the time of registration. Click on the specific exam for more details.
The ACT Exam is still being offered at St. Cloud State for Fall 2020. This test given in larger rooms in Atwood Center and not in the Testing Center, which is being relocated out of Atwood Center.
The ACT Assessment is used by many colleges and universities as an entrance exam. It consists of four multiple choice sections followed by an optional writing section.

The College-Level Examination Program® or CLEP provides students of any age with the opportunity to demonstrate college-level achievement through a program of exams in undergraduate college courses. There are 2,900 colleges that grant credit and/or advanced standing for CLEP exams. CLEP exams are offered on computer only.
The fee for the exam is $80 plus a $30 non-refundable test administration fee.

The GED Test has four subjects: Math, Science, Social Studies, and Reasoning Through Language Arts. Each test is a different length.

The Graduate Management Admission Test® (GMAT®) is a standardized assessment—delivered in English—that helps business schools assess the qualifications of applicants for advanced study in business and management. Schools use the test as one predictor of academic performance in an MBA program or in other graduate management programs.
The GMAT® exam measures quantitative, verbal, integrated reasoning, and analytical writing skills that you have developed over a long period of time in your education and work.
The GMAT® exam consists of three main parts, the Analytical Writing Assessment, the Quantitative section, and the Verbal section.
The fee for the GMAT exam is $250.

The Graduate Record Examinations® (GRE®) General Test measures verbal reasoning, quantitative reasoning, and analytical writing skills that have been acquired over a long period of time and that are not related to any specific field of study.
The fee for the GRE General Test is $195.

The GRE® Subject Tests gauge undergraduate achievement in eight specific fields of study and is often required for admission into a master’s degree program.
The fee for the GRE Subject Test is $150.
You can only register for a paper-based GRE Subject Test either online or by mail through ETS, the testing company. Please go to the GRE Web site listed below and select GRE Subject Test. Register early to receive your free test preparation materials in time to prepare for the test.

The Law School Admission Test (LSAT) is a half-day standardized test required for admission to all ABA-approved law schools, most Canadian law schools, and many non-ABA-approved law schools. It provides a standard measure of acquired reading and verbal reasoning skills that law schools can use as one of several factors in assessing applicants. The test is administered four times a year.
Many law schools require that the LSAT be taken by December for admission the following fall. However, taking the test earlier is often advised.

The MAT is an option for candidates applying to any of the hundreds of graduate programs that accept MAT scores for admission. It is a high-level mental ability test requiring the solution of problems stated as analogies.
The fee for MAT is $85, payable by check (written to SCSU), money order or cash at time of exam.

The Praxis 1 is now referred to as Basic Skills tests under the new Minnesota Teacher Licensing Exam. The exam is computer-based. All of the old Praxis 2 exams are now given new names under the MTLE program and will be offered only computer-based, with the exception of the World Languages exams.
Registration can only be done via the MTLE web site. The tests are given one week each month of the year. Students can select the date and time during that week that works the best for their schedule. For detailed information, please go to the MTLE website.
The Praxis exams still exist and are used by some states for licensing purposes. You will need to contact each state that you are seeking licensing in to see what their requirements are.

The Praxis Series assessments provide educational tests and other services that states use as part of their teaching licensing certification process for various states. The Praxis I tests, Pre-Professional Skills Tests (PPST®), are designed to measure basic skills in reading, writing and mathematics. Colleges and universities may use Praxis I: Pre-Professional Skills Tests to evaluate individuals for entry into teacher education programs. The assessments are generally taken early in your college career.

A valuable tool for students who would like to learn abroad in English, the TOEFL® (Test of English as a Foreign Language™) test opens more doors than any other academic English test.
